Printec North America offers matching color series for printing on adhesive tapes, in particular with respect to the different materials, adhesives and printing processes. In addition, overprint varnishes are available in matt, satin and gloss.
Two color series are available for printing adhesive tapes:
The PC-FLEXO series is designed for adhesive tapes made of polypropylene (PP), a quick-drying, alcohol/petrol-dilutable 1-component base ink system suitable for petrol-resistant rubber clichés. It offers high gloss, high color strength, very good printing behavior and achieves optimal drying at 30 °C and a high air volume.
Printec recommends a corona pre-treatment (42-44 mN/m) of the material. With some types of adhesive, the use of release varnish and/or primer is necessary for an optimal result.
The DZ-HOKO series, a quick-drying solvent-based printing ink based on ester for flexo and gravure printing, is intended for PVC adhesive tapes with acrylate or rubber adhesive. Here, attention must be paid to suitable ester and ketone-resistant cliché material - the suitability of photopolymer plates must be tested beforehand. It also offers high gloss, optimized color strength, very good printing behavior and a good release effect on standard acrylate and rubber adhesives. Optimum drying is achieved at 30 °C and a high air volume.
Printec recommends corona pre-treatment (42-44 mN/m) of the substrate. All solvents must have a water content of less than 1%. No alcohols, glycols or glycol ethers are to be used. The color is free from harmful cyclohexanone.
Both ink series - PC-FLEXO and DZ-HOKO - are formulated according to the CEPE directive. Auxiliaries such as cut-offs, thinners, retarders, fast drying agents, PP primer and release lacquer are required for the ink series (when using primer/release lacquer only very small application quantities are necessary [approx. 1.5-2.5 g/m2] ) on offer.
